Submission Guidelines

Pitt Med is interested in submissions for its “Attending” section; our tagline for that section is “ruminations on the medical life.” If you are associated with the medical school—as an alumnus, student, postdoc, prof, etc.—consider exploring an experience that somehow shaped how you see medicine, science, or even better, how you see yourself. Of course this should be an essay that you suspect others would find interesting or entertaining—and maybe even would make them feel enriched. Perhaps it strikes a chord that is universal. We welcome humor but not at another’s expense (self-deprecating is often charming, however). We welcome poignancy but eschew mawkishness. Please do not submit political, activist, or promotional pieces. To float an idea past the editors, We'll also review 900-word drafts.
